The Twitter factor is real. Fun. And brings harmony to home and home away.
Saturday morning I awoke and stretched to start the day. It was then that my shoulder locked and pain shot down my nerves in every direction.
I was virtually immobile for about 10 hours on the couch from this pinched nerve that came out of nowhere (the only thing I was lifting the night before were Green Apple martinis).
Friends and family suggested a few fixes, but I was hopeless and a little cynical of their advice. Then for this first time I reached out to tweeps with a call for help and advice for a cure.
Within minutes came a tweet back from @MomeezPT (Momeez, as in Mommy, PT as in Physical Therapy). I thought, “Seriously?” I’m a Mommy and looks like I seriously might need PT!” I couldn’t believe the instant odds. We tweeted my symptoms, then she had me call her private cell number.
Her smiling avatar and sage advice gave great peace of mind to this desperate mom lying still (with a hubby away at work) and who was fed by her kids, who could only reach sustenance on lower shelves (fruit roll ups, pretzels, cereal). Note to self: lower quality goods in case of emergency.
Christina of @MomeezPT even offered to come by the house later that night or Sunday to look at me. I was amazed by the power of Twitter. I had only exchanged tweets with her a few times prior through an informal #followfriday from a mutual friend.
It was then that the wonder of Twitter really hit me. The instantaneous nature from a universal blend of expertise at my fingertwips. Now, Twitter is not always that substantial it’s also just fun. (Last week I tweeted a Twit Pic of the Weinermobile as it plumped past me on the 405. And it brought smiles to fellow tweeps.) And it’s a great business tool, as it builds relationships through non-pressured introductions. But above all that, it keeps you connected. SAHMs often feel isolated and oblivious to what’s going on “out there.” And working moms often feel like they’re missing out on their friends and the life outside their 9-5.
So OC moms, if you’re still just laughing at Twitter and all the crazy Tweet peeps, I’m one to say it’s substance, silly and worthy of your time. And to fellow Tweeps, follow on.
Some great OC tweeple to follow:
•@MiaChambers (the social media and music maven)
•@Suzbroughton (always entertaining while tweeting her love of all things OC, photography, the Ducks)
•@momfluential (super fun to follow as her business, home life and red carpets collide)
•@hipmomswhowork (gives working moms an-always relatable slant)
•@theglamlife (who brings smiles with her get-real perspective)
•@MomeezPT (need I say more about her? Okay, I will in a future article on her mobile PT biz and insightful ideas on prevention before the ail aches).
•Me? I’m @PLMmama
