The holidays are here, and there are so many amazing ways to celebrate the season at Disneyland.

My family and I hit the park for OC Mom Magazine to check out the new fun and festivities, and we picked a few of our favorite things you can’t miss when spending the season at Disneyland Resort, starting with the new star power of Star Wars …

NEW STAR WARS EXPERIENCES COMING TO DISNEY PARKS (Nov. 12, 2015) - Disney Parks guests will experience the Star Wars saga every time they visit Disneyland Park in California as early as November 16, 2015, and Disney's Hollywood Studios at the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida starting in December 2015. One of the attractions, pictured here, is Star Tours - The Adventures Continue, which takes guests on a galactic adventure inspired by the new film, Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Other experiences include Star Wars Launch Bay, featuring special exhibits and character encounters, and Jedi Training: Trials of the Temple, an interactive show reimagined with a new villain.

By far, the biggest wow factor this year is found at Tomorrowland—be merry and bright as you cross over to the dark side with the Season of the Force that just opened. Hyperspace Mountain is a thrill with Space Mountain reimagined to the Star Wars soundtrack and galaxy lights lit up bright all around, as an X-wing Starfighter battle surrounds you. Our 4-year-old rode the classic coaster for the first time, and “That was awesome!” were the first three words that bursted out of his mouth. Our older kids were even more enthusiastic. It really is great fun! Be sure to hit Star Wars Launch Bay also, with character encounters, video games and authentic replicas of film props too. Star Wars: Path of the Jedi shows at Tomorrowland Theatre—it’s an exclusive short cinematic compilation of the Star Wars saga. Finally, check out the remodeled Star Tours – The Adventures Continue, with a glimpse into a new journey from Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Next, nothing beats a simple stroll along Main Street. Each year, it always brings the season home. Décor delights with festive sights in every window and holiday treats for the taking. Around the Disneyland Resort, you’ll find more than 19,000 poinsettia plants and about 2,500 feet of grand greenery. Also, more than 100 live miniature Christmas trees abound. Where else can you find all that in one place?

MAJESTIC CHRISTMAS TREE (ANAHEIM, Calif.) – For Holidays at the Disneyland Resort, a towering Christmas tree stands 60 feet tall at Town Square at Disneyland Park. This year, dazzling blue accents and bows decorate the tree in honor of the Disneyland Resort Diamond Celebration. The Holidays are a magical time to create unforgettable memories with loved ones at the Disneyland Resort. This merry season runs Nov. 13 through Jan. 6, 2016, as Disneyland park transforms into a dazzling winter wonderland with beautiful décor and attractions created for the season – “it’s a small world” Holiday and Haunted Mansion Holiday. This year, the Diamond Celebration adds even more sparkle to the festive entertainment with the “Paint the Night” parade and “Disneyland Forever” fireworks spectacular. Small World is a big dose of eye candy. Did you know the façade of “it’s a small world” burns bright with more than 60,000 colorful LED Christmas lights? This year, nearly 300,000 miniature LED lights sparkle within the trees, hedges and topiaries.

Cars Land revs up joy with holiday décor and more at Disney California Adventure Park. Radiator Springs is fully in the spirit. At the Cozy Cone Motel, Sally’s traffic cone tree stands nearly 9 feet tall.

SEASON'S SPEEDINGS (ANAHEIM, Calif.) - A whimsical "snowcar" greets guests as they enter Cars Land at Disney California Adventure park during Holidays at the Disneyland Resort, Nov. 13 through Jan. 6, 2016. In celebration of the season, Disneyland park transforms into a dazzling winter wonderland with festive décor, holiday-themed treats and attractions transformed for the season of “it’s a small world” Holiday and Haunted Mansion Holiday. This year, the Diamond Celebration adds even more sparkle to the exciting entertainment, which includes “A Christmas Fantasy” parade, “Disney ¡Viva Navidad!,” “Paint the Night” and the “Disneyland Forever” fireworks spectacular. (Paul Hiffmeyer/Disneyland Resort)

“Disneyland Forever” fireworksis as spectacular as ever. The street-to-sky, immersive experience delights with pyrotechnics and music. You’re surrounded by the worlds of timeless Disney tales, and kids are on the tips of their toes, thanks to the largest installation of projection mapping technology in a Disney park and surprising special effects.

There’s all this, plus Haunted Mansion Holiday, “Disney ¡Viva Navidad!”, “A Christmas Fantasy” parade, “Paint the Night” parade and “World of Color – Celebrate! The Wonderful World of Walt Disney” in Disney California Adventure Park. (Each evening throughout the holiday season, two versions of “World of Color” will be presented: World of Color – Celebrate!” and the enchanting holiday version, “World of Color – Winter Dreams.”)

We wish you and your family the most magical memories and time well spent, as you spend special time together at Disneyland this December.

Happy Holidays!
